GC-BS Design & Install

In accordance with the requirements of the Outcome Standards for Registered Training Organisations, Smart Solar Training provides the opportunity for students to apply to have prior learning recognised toward a qualification or units of competence for which they are enrolled.
However, please note that Solar Accreditation Australia, the national accreditation scheme operator does not recognise RPL’d candidate records.
Our organisation does not offer entry-level VET sector training.
Students are responsible for obtaining current copies of the following Australian Standards, available for purchase online, and also available from some libraries, institutions and industry associations.

- AS/NZS 5139 – Electrical installations – Safety of battery systems for use with power conversion equipment
- AS/NZS 4777.1 – Grid connection of energy systems via inverters – Part 1: Installation requirements
- AS/NZS 5033 – Installation and safety requirements for photovoltaic (PV) arrays
- AS/NZS 3000 – Wiring Rules
- AS/NZS 3008.1.1 – Electrical installations – Selection of cables
Enrolled students in this course must also have:
- Computer with a reliable Internet connection
- Scientific calculator
- Email account, checked regularly

Although it is not mandatory, we recommend completing around 50% self study before attending the training. Some self study will be required with training tutor support included with all our courses.

Total Nominal Hours: 70
In the context of Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) and Vocational Education and Training (VET), “nominal hours” refer to the anticipated time needed to deliver and assess a unit of competency or module.
You may take longer to complete your unit of competency/competencies or you may take less depending on your experience and any previous training.

The validation period of our courses is twelve (12) months.
This course builds on the knowledge of the Grid-Connected PV Systems Design course, so a prerequisite for enrolment is a Statement of Attainment in the following Units of Competency :

- UEERE0061: Design grid-connected photovoltaic power supply systems and
An unrestricted electrical licence issued by an Australian state or territory is a prerequisite for enrolment in this course.
